Religious bigotry and hatred can be ended. The religious traditions from different times and cultures tell all sorts of different stories, and when they are read as literal history they appear to be talking about all sorts of different historical and moral lessons. But when they are read as allegories and symbols they all tell the same story, about the same quest – the process of the soul’s spiritual development. When this underlying unity is understood, there is no further reason for antagonism between different religions. If people would stop reading the Bible, the Qur’an, and other Scriptures superficially and externally, and would deeply ponder the inner meaning of what is said, all sorts of foolish divisiveness would be defused.
